Rainy Day Rituals: Self Care, Soup, and a Tea Party for Two

When the world slows down, you begin to notice the sacred in the small.

Rainy days used to leave me restless, waiting for the sun or someone else to bring the spark back into my world. Now I welcome them as gentle invitations to slow down, turn inward, and find magic in the ordinary. These little shifts have become my rainy days rituals, acts of presence and care that transform a gray sky into something sacred.

The day began early with cheese production at Nuteese. By the time I returned home, the sky was heavy and the first drops had started to fall. Instead of pushing through my task list, I let the rain set the rhythm and guided myself into a slower, softer presence.

Morning Grounding

Morning stillness. Breath. A soft pull toward the Queen of Wands. Power with tenderness.

With the soft sound of rain outside, I rolled out my yoga mat and moved through gentle stretches. My breath brought me back to center, and I finished with a few minutes of stillness. I felt drawn to my Tarot de Marseille deck and pulled the Queen of Wands, a beautiful reminder to stay rooted in my power and connected to my inner fire, even on a gray day.

Slowness is a strength. Especially on rainy days.

This practice was not about performance. It was about presence. A few conscious breaths and slow movements always help my mind return to my body. I continue to be amazed by how even a short practice can shift the entire energy of a day.

Nourishment and Comfort

Roasted beet potage, swirled with Nuteese and topped with fresh dill. Nourishment in a bowl.

Lunch was a bowl of comfort. I made a bright, creamy potage from roasted beets and vegetables, blended until smooth and topped with a swirl of Nuteese cream cheese and fresh dill. I wrapped myself in a blanket and ate slowly on the couch, letting admin work gently drift into light scrolling, cat cuddles, and a business call or two as the rain poured outside.

A Tea Party Just Because

Red lips, red soles, a sweet guest by my side. Tea for two, because why not?

Later, I felt the pull to dress up just for myself. I put on my favorite polka dot shirt, red lipstick, and my red soles, and brewed a pot of tea. Mia, my sweet but anxious dog, does not enjoy the sound of rain. She jumped up beside me, eager for a taste of whatever I had. I gave her homemade tempeh chips and a bit of Nuteese to calm her nerves.

There we were, tea in hand, Mia by my side, dressed as if it were a grand occasion. It reminded me of being a little girl, hosting tea parties for imaginary guests. This time, my guest was real, furry, and only interested in snacks. And honestly, that made it all the more perfect.

Small Rituals, Big Impact

Admin. Soup. Cuddles. The rhythm of rain makes everything feel softer.

As evening approached, I leaned into the small rituals that turn ordinary days into something sacred. I warmed coconut oil in my hands, massaged it into my hair, and gave myself a slow, soothing facial massage. These small acts of care may seem simple, but they are powerful reminders to return to myself.

If you had looked in, you might have seen me savoring the last spoonful of soup like it was the most luxurious moment of the week. On days like this, I truly believe that caring for ourselves is the most important work we can do.

Final Reflection

Some days, self care is soup and quiet.

Other days, it is red lipstick and a tea party with your dog.

Always, it is about choosing softness and staying present with yourself.

How do you bring warmth and play into your rainy days?

Share your ritual or tag me in your coziest moment. I would love to see how you turn gray skies into your own kind of magic.
